
The Commission on Higher Education – Cordillera Administrative Region (CHED-CAR) convened with the Department of Trade and Industry – Cordillera Administrative Region (DTI-CAR) on May 10, 2024, for the third year of implementation of the Project MARITES (Mobilizing Available Resources through Inclusive Training on Entrepreneurship of Student-Grantees) fused with the Youth Entrepreneurship Program (YEP).

The Commission on Higher Education – Cordillera Administrative Region (CHED-CAR) UniFAST Unit has successfully achieved its annual monitoring goals, ensuring the effective implementation of programs under Republic Act No. 10931, also known as the Universal Access to Quality Tertiary Education Act (UAQTEA). Led by Ms. Menzie O. Kuengan (Program Overseer) and Dr. Bernadette C. Pal-ec (UniFAST Focal Person), the Regional Coordinators, the team conducted comprehensive reviews and engagements with representatives from Higher Education Institutions (HEIs), including their Focal Persons, Accountants, Registrars, and Student Services Officers.

CHED-CAR’s intensified efforts through Project ACCESS, or Acquainting In-Coming College Entrants on Scholarships and Grants-in-Aid System, have marked significant strides in promoting universal access to quality higher education in the Cordillera region. For the First Quarter of 2024, CHED-CAR has accomplished a total of 27 sessions from 24 schools across the region that were visited (2 in Baguio, 14 in Benguet, 3 in Mountain Province, 2 in Apayao, 2 in Ifugao, and 1 in Kalinga).

The Commission on Higher Education – Cordillera Administrative Region (CHED-CAR), through its UniFAST Unit, successfully conducted the first episode of the 2024 series of the SEEDLING Project, known as Skills Enhancement, Engagement, and Development: A Learning Intervention to Nurture Grantees, on April 30, 2024, via online. Nearly 200 participants attended the episode, which focused on Cybersecurity Awareness and Responsible Social Media Practices.
Continuing its commitment to champion accessible and relevant education services for the Cordilleran youth, CHED-CAR visited Cordillera Regional Science High School on April 22, 2024, to conduct a session of the Project ACCESS or Acquainting In-Coming College Entrants on Scholarships and Grants-in-Aid System. Project ACCESS, a brainchild project of CHED-CAR Regional Director Demetrio P. Anduyan Jr, serves as CHED-CAR’s official Information, Education, and Communication (IEC) campaign dedicated to providing comprehensive information and guidance to potential college entrants, ensuring they are well-informed about available scholarships and grants-in-aid programs.
