CHED‑CAR, LANDBANK Facilitate Account Opening for BCU Beneficiaries

To ensure smooth access to their education benefits, the Commission on Higher Education – Cordillera Administrative Region (CHED‑CAR), through its UniFAST Unit, in partnership with the Land Bank of the Philippines (LANDBANK), assisted Baguio Central University (BCU) beneficiaries of the Tertiary Education Subsidy (TES) and Tulong Dunong Program (TDP) in opening their LANDBANK accounts on April 30, 2026.

A total of 600 student‑beneficiaries participated in the activity, which aimed to make the release of financial assistance more accessible, efficient, and student‑friendly.

CHED‑CAR Officer‑in‑Charge Regional Director Dr. Serafin L. Ngohayon graced the event and conveyed his message of encouragement to the students, emphasizing financial inclusion and the responsible use of government support in helping them pursue and complete their studies.

The account opening process was facilitated by Ms. Kristine Meria‑Santos, Branch Manager of LANDBANK Harrison, along with Mr. Michael Valdez, Branch Head of LANDBANK Baguio–Marcos Highway. Students were guided step‑by‑step in opening their accounts using the LANDBANK Mobile Application, ensuring a smooth and convenient process.

Also present during the activity were Ms. Marife B. Calimodag and Ms. Precious Jane H. Amiten,, Regional Coordinators of the UniFAST Unit; and Ms. Shiela Madugay, BCU Focal Person, who assisted the beneficiaries throughout the process.

Through the LANDBANK PISO Plus Account, student‑beneficiaries were able to open their accounts without an initial deposit and with a maintaining balance as low as one peso, helping ease financial barriers and allowing students to focus on their academic goals.

This initiative reflects CHED‑CAR’s commitment to translating education assistance into practical, student‑centered support mechanisms that promote access, inclusion, and opportunity.
