The Commission on Higher Education – Cordillera Administrative Region (CHED‑CAR), through its UniFAST Unit, conducted an orientation session for Tertiary Education Subsidy (TES) beneficiaries of Benguet State University (BSU) on April 6, 2026, at the BSU Gymnasium in La Trinidad, Benguet. The activity was organized by the BSU Office of Student Services (OSS) in coordination with the CHED‑CAR UniFAST Unit.

The activity was attended by a total of 1,339 student‑grantees, composed of both ongoing and newly qualified TES beneficiaries of the institution. The orientation aimed to ensure that grantees are fully informed of program guidelines, benefits, and responsibilities under the subsidy.

The program formally opened with welcome remarks from Dr. Erlyn Honeylette C. Marquez, Director of the Office of Student Services (OSS), who underscored the significance of the TES in supporting students’ educational needs. She also encouraged beneficiaries to remain committed to fulfilling their responsibilities as government grantees.

The orientation proper was facilitated by Dr. Bernadette Pal‑ec, Education Supervisor II and Head of the UniFAST Unit, who presented an in‑depth discussion on TES policies, benefits, and implementation processes. She emphasized the responsibilities of beneficiaries, including compliance with program requirements and proper utilization of the subsidy.

An open forum followed, led by Ms. Vanessa Pinos‑an, allowing participants to raise TES‑related concerns and seek clarifications. Questions regarding the processing of Landbank accounts and related matters were also addressed during the session.

Further, Mr. Kendrick Adrian I. Wanawan, Head of the Supreme Student Government Unit (SSGU), presented the consultation services and functions of the OSS‑SSGU. He also reminded student‑grantees of the importance of accountability, active participation, and responsible engagement in university and scholarship‑related activities.

The orientation reinforced CHED‑CAR’s commitment to ensuring the effective implementation of the Tertiary Education Subsidy program and to fostering informed, responsible, and empowered student‑grantees. Through sustained coordination with higher education institutions such as Benguet State University, CHED‑CAR continues to strengthen support systems that promote transparency, accountability, and equitable access to financial assistance for tertiary education.
