CHED-UniFAST CAR Equips Cordillera Graduates for the Professional World

The CHED-UniFAST Cordillera Administrative Region (CAR) successfully concluded the 2025 run of its CAREERS Project — Cultivating Adaptation, Resilience, and Excellence for Enhanced Readiness and Success — held on July 11 & 18 and August 1 & 6, 2025, via Zoom and Facebook Live.
This four-part online series was designed to prepare student-grantees as they transition from academic life into the professional arena, whether in private employment, entrepreneurship, or public service. Opening the first session, Atty. Septon A. De La Cruz, Regional Director of CHED-CAR, underscored the purpose of the program:
“Each of these topics was selected with one goal in mind — to empower you to step into your future with confidence, clarity, and purpose. Whether you choose to pursue further studies, seek employment, or serve in government or your community, we want you to be equipped not just with credentials — but with character.”
Session 1 – In the Eye of the HR: Packaging Self and Powerful Interview Pitch on July 11, 2025
The series opened with Ms. Maricris P. Lad-ey Neyney, Chief HRMO of Benguet State University, who shared practical strategies on personal branding, crafting a compelling résumé, and delivering an impactful interview pitch.
Session 2 – Employer or Employed: Compressed Labor Education on July 18, 2025
Representatives from the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE-CAR) — Mr. Duane Harold S. Guzman, Mr. Paul Adrian B. delos Santos, and Mr. Rodel J. Dumlao — discussed the current labor market in the Cordillera, along with Basic Rights, Worker’s Empowerment Rights, and Health and Safety Rights.
Session 3 – Nailing the Test: Tips in Answering Board, Civil Service, and Job Examinations on August 1, 2025
Mr. Eliza “JC” Tuazon of the Ray A. Gapuz Review System introduced the SMARTER strategy for tackling examinations and interviews, which stands for: Study the format, Master the format, Avoid the traps, Reflect and breathe, Think before choosing or talking, Evolve with a growth mindset, and Read all the instructions.
Session 4 – The Becoming of a Public Servant (Public Service Values) on August 6, 2025
To cap the series, Mr. Eleazar Puguon, OIC-Chief Personnel Specialist of the Civil Service Commission-CAR, inspired participants with insights on the values and ethics that define exemplary public service.
Empowering Cordillera’s Graduates
The CAREERS Series aimed to equip graduates with the mindset, knowledge, and skills to excel in the next chapter of their journey. Participant feedback reflected the program’s positive impact:

This year’s series drew 579 attendees, slightly fewer than last year’s 632 participants, but the depth of engagement and feedback reaffirmed its value.
The CAREERS Webinar Series forms part of CHED-UniFAST CAR’s ongoing mission to empower graduates as they enter the workforce, ensuring they carry not just academic credentials, but also the adaptability, resilience, and values to succeed.
For Academic Year 2024–2025, the Cordillera produced 16,294 baccalaureate graduates, marking a 1.83% increase from the previous academic year. With this upward trend, CHED-UniFAST CAR remains committed to supporting students as they take their next steps toward building meaningful careers and contributing to the region’s growth.
