On May 14, 2025, CHED-UniFAST CAR conducted a site visit to Cordillera Career Development College (CCDC) in La Trinidad, Benguet, to observe the implementation of Project SAGIP at its Admirals Farm Park. This initiative, Scholars and Grant-in-Aid Beneficiaries Action in Greening initiative Program, highlights the dedication of CHED-UniFAST and CCDC to fostering environmental consciousness and social responsibility among student-grantees.

Last year, approximately 300 seedlings—including avocado, coffee, mango, and pine trees—were planted at the farm park. Despite some losses due to environmental factors, a significant number thrived, with coffee plants already showing early signs of success and sustainability by sprouting beans.

Under Project SAGIP, each CHED and UniFAST financial assistance grantee is encouraged to plant at least one indigenous or fruit-bearing tree annually throughout their grant period. This initiative not only contributes to reforestation and environmental sustainability but also fosters a deeper sense of accountability and care for the planet.

Through initiatives like Project SAGIP, CCDC and CHED-UniFAST CAR are cultivating more than just future professionals; they are nurturing responsible, environmentally conscious citizens who will help lead the region toward a greener future.
