CHED-UniFAST CAR officially welcomed the new batch of Tertiary Education Subsidy (TES) beneficiaries from Saint Louis University (SLU) for Academic Year 2023-2024 during an orientation program on February 27, 2025, at SLU, Upper Bonifacio St., Baguio City.

A total of fifty students attended the session, where they were briefed on the TES program’s guidelines, benefits, and responsibilities. Ms. Jezeny O. Laoyan, Lead Regional Coordinator, led the orientation, ensuring that the new beneficiaries understood the support available to them. Following the session, beneficiaries signed the TES Sharing Agreement, formalizing their inclusion in the program.

SLU officials present during the event included Dr. Stephanie O. Busbus (Director of the Office of Global Relations and Alumni Affairs), Mr. John Rey Sumawang (Outgoing UniFAST Focal Person), Mr. Elmer Benito (Incoming UniFAST Focal Person), and accounting personnel led by Ms. Dhalia Annabelle Lawilao (Chief Accountant). Their presence highlighted the university’s commitment to assisting students in accessing financial aid for higher education.

The TES program, a key initiative under Republic Act No. 10931 or the Universal Access to Quality Tertiary Education Act (UAQTEA), provides financial assistance to deserving yet economically disadvantaged students. Each beneficiary receives Php 13,500 per regular semester, helping cover tuition and other education-related expenses, thereby easing their financial burden and allowing them to focus on their tertiary education.
