The Commission on Higher Education – Cordillera Administrative Region (CHED-CAR), through its UniFAST Unit, successfully conducted an orientation for the new beneficiaries of the Tertiary Education Subsidy (TES) at the University of Baguio on November 28, 2024.
Leading the team, Dr. Bernadette C. Pal-ec, Education Supervisor II and UniFAST Focal Person for CHED-CAR, presented an overview of the programs under Republic Act No. 10931, also known as the Universal Access to Quality Tertiary Education Act (UAQTEA). Her discussion emphasized the goals and scope of the law, particularly its commitment to supporting Filipino students’ access to quality education.
Following the program overview, Ms. Marife B. Calimodag detailed the roles and responsibilities of TES beneficiaries, highlighting the importance of compliance with program guidelines to maximize the assistance provided.
The TES program, a flagship initiative under the UAQTEA, aims to provide financial aid to financially disadvantaged yet deserving tertiary students. This year, the University of Baguio welcomed a new batch of 400 TES beneficiaries, who will now have support in pursuing their higher education goals. CHED-CAR remains steadfast in its mission to make quality tertiary education accessible to more Filipinos, ensuring that no deserving student is left behind.
