By: Delaila Irma T. Calindas, Project Technical Staff II
The Commission on Higher Education – Cordillera Administrative Region (CHED-CAR) held an orientation for the Tertiary Education Subsidy (TES) and Tulong Dunong Program (TDP-TES) beneficiaries at King’s College of the Philippines (KCP) on September 24, 2024, at Founders Hall, KCP, La Trinidad, Benguet.
A total of 118 TES beneficiaries and 94 TDP grantees attended the program to learn more about their financial aid.
Ms. Jezeny O. Laoyan, Lead Regional Coordinator of CHED-CAR for UniFAST, outlined the roles and responsibilities of TES beneficiaries. TES is one of the major programs of the Republic Act No. 10931 or the Universal Access to Quality Tertiary Education Act, which provides financial assistance to qualified students enrolled in CHED-recognized public and private higher education institutions. This program helps cover the partial cost of tertiary education, including education-related expenses.
Moreover, Ms. Jurcell V. Dilla, Regional Coordinator of CHED-CAR for UniFAST, explained the conditions under which the TDP-TES grant could be terminated. The TDP-TES is a grant-in-aid program that provides financial assistance to qualified grantees aimed at helping students overcome financial barriers to education.
Dr. Bernadette C. Pal-ec, Education Supervisor II and UniFAST Focal Person of CHED-CAR, led the open forum, answering questions and offering additional insights to attendees.
Through the orientation program, beneficiaries received essential information about their financial aid, enabling them to fully utilize these resources to achieve their academic goals. CHED-CAR remains committed to supporting students in their higher education pursuit, ensuring that financial barriers do not hinder their attainment of quality education.
