UAQTEA Beneficiaries From MPSPC Win Big in YEP-Project MARITES 2024 Mountain Province
Beneficiaries of the Tertiary Education Subsidy (TES) and Tulong Dunong Program (TDP) from Mountain Province State Polytechnic College (MPSPC) emerged as winners during the Provincial Business Pitch Competition at the YEP-Project MARITES 2024 in Mountain Province, held on July 9-12, 2024.
Claudette T. Lopez, a Bachelor of Science in Accountancy student and TES beneficiary, achieved first place with her entrepreneurial venture, “Inandila To-Go.” Her proposal focuses on marketing inandila, a traditional glutinous rice delicacy from Kalinga province, to consumers in Bontoc, Mountain Province.
Judah P. Ban-ang, a Bachelor of Science in Secondary Education majoring in Mathematics and a TDP grantee, obtained second place with his project, “CalcuLearn Be Math-Tinik.” This initiative seeks to provide accessible tutorials in basic mathematics, addressing educational needs within the community and fostering academic growth.
Shaila Anne Nangloy, a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration and a TDP grantee, earned third place with her business concept, “Pasalubong and Bilao Bundles.” Her proposal involves offering carefully curated bundles of local delicacies and crafts, catering to both tourists and local residents seeking authentic pasalubong items, thereby supporting local artisans and producers.
Each of the top three winners will receive business starter kits sponsored by the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI).
Project MARITES, or Mobilizing Available Resources Through Inclusive Training on Entrepreneurship of Student-Grantees, is the first and only entrepreneurship program specifically designed for beneficiaries of the Universal Access to Quality Tertiary Education Act (UAQTEA), particularly the Tertiary Education Subsidy. In collaboration with the DTI-CAR, CHED-CAR aims to provide comprehensive training programs to support these beneficiaries in their entrepreneurial ventures.
