On May 21, 2024, the Commission on Higher Education – Cordillera Administrative Region (CHED-CAR), through its UniFAST Unit, held a meeting with the Focal Person for the Baguio College Education Financial Assistance Grant (BCEFAG) from the City Government of Baguio. The purpose of the meeting was to discuss mapping student financial assistance programs.

Dr. Bernadette C. Pal-ec, UniFAST Focal Person, and Regional Coordinators Ms. Jezeny O. Laoyan and Ms. Ana Grace P. Salibad represented the regional office. Ms. Marian B. Emoco, BCEFAG Focal Person, represented the City Social Welfare and Development Office (CSWDO).

The Baguio Local Government Unit, through its CSWDO, administers BCEFAG, which provides financial support to eligible Baguio City residents enrolled in undergraduate programs.

Earlier this month, the UniFAST Unit met with the National Commission on Indigenous Peoples – Cordillera Administrative Region (NCIP-CAR) and the Provincial Local Government Unit of Benguet for the same purpose.

This meeting is part of the Regional Office’s Student Financial Assistance Programs (StuFAPs) Mapping initiative. Through its UniFAST Unit, the Regional Office aims to harmonize, reform, strengthen, expand, rationalize, and refocus all legislated or ongoing government StuFAPs within the region. The goal is to enhance efficiency, coherence, synchronization, effective funding, and improved coordination among the implementing entities. This initiative seeks to eliminate the duplication of grants and ensure a more streamlined distribution of financial assistance.
