By: Delaila Irma T. Calindas, Project Technical Staff II
The Commission on Higher Education – Cordillera Administrative Region (CHED-CAR) UniFAST Unit has successfully achieved its annual monitoring goals, ensuring the effective implementation of programs under Republic Act No. 10931, also known as the Universal Access to Quality Tertiary Education Act (UAQTEA). Led by Ms. Menzie O. Kuengan (Program Overseer) and Dr. Bernadette C. Pal-ec (UniFAST Focal Person), together with the Regional Coordinators, the team conducted comprehensive reviews and engagements with representatives from Higher Education Institutions (HEIs), including their Focal Persons, Accountants, Registrars, and Student Services Officers.
From February to May 2024, the monitoring efforts covered thirty-five (35) HEIs across the region, focusing on critical aspects of program implementation such as the efficiency of liquidation and billing processes, the disbursement of allowances, and compliance with projects initiated by the Regional Office.
This rigorous annual monitoring underscores the dedication to fostering accessible, quality tertiary education, contributing to the seamless delivery of programs under the UAQTEA, and reinforcing the region’s commitment to educational inclusivity and excellence.
