CHED-CAR Delivers Project ACCESS to Solo Parents of Atok, Benguet

By: Jezeny O. Laoyan, Project Technical Staff III

In pursuit of universal access to quality tertiary education in the Cordillera, the UniFAST Unit of the Commission on Higher Education – Cordillera Administrative Region joined the Municipality of Atok in a forum dedicated to solo parents last December 4, 2023, at Sayangan, Atok, Benguet. The forum aimed to inform the solo parents of the different programs and opportunities provided by CHED and UniFAST.

Hon. Franklin L. Smith, Municipal Mayor of Atok, expressed his gratitude to the CHED-CAR for accepting their invitation and shared his eagerness to provide his constituents with all possible opportunities provided by the government.

Ms. Jezeny O. Laoyan and Ms. Marife Calimodag, UniFAST Regional Coordinators, attended the forum and presented the different financial assistance programs being implemented by CHED and UniFAST.

With the outdated and fake news prevalent today in social media, attending Regional Coordinators also reiterated the importance of getting information on scholarships and grants only from legitimate sources. In support of this, they distributed brochures containing the details of the programs as well as the official social media and contact details of the Regional Office.

This engagement is part of Project ACCESS (Acquainting In-Coming College Entrants on Scholarships and Grants-in-aid System), an IEC campaign program of CHED-CAR initiated by Regional Director Demetrio P. Anduyan Jr., which aims to orient potential undergraduate enrollees to the different opportunities and financial assistance programs they can avail to pursue higher education.
